Turn your DSLR camera into a 3D Digitiser with Rhinophoto. Rhinophoto is a photogrammetry plugin for Rhinoceros and provides automatic digitising from a set of photographs.
Rhinophoto automatically creates 3D points from a set of photos taken with positioned coded targets.
Each target corresponds to a Number. This Number is read by Rhinophoto from the photo and allows it to automatically create 2D points on the images at the center of the target. Rhinophoto then computes 3D point positions from 2D points on each images and creates Rhino 3D points.
How does it work?
Position a coded target at each point that you want to model. (~ 10 minutes for 50 targets / 100 Points)
Position special coded targets representing the origin and one of the axes.
Take a series of photos of the scene and copy all these photos into an empty folder.(~ 5 minutes)
Run Rhino, then the Rhinophoto command and load a photo from the list.
Everything is automatic, after calculations (the time depends on the number of images but just a couple of minutes is sufficient), Rhinophoto creates the 3D points in Rhino.
You can now model surfaces from the points with the standard Rhino Commands.
