Turn your DSLR camera into a 3D Digitiser with PixDim. PixDim is a photogrammetry plugin for Google SketchUp and provides automatic digitising from a set of photographs.
Pixdim automatically creates 3D points from a set of photos taken with positioned coded targets. Each target corresponds to a Number. This Number is read by Pixdim from the photo and allows it to automatically create 2D points on the images at the center of the target. Then Pixdim computes 3D point positions from 2D points on each images and creates 3D points.
Step by Step
1 – Position a coded target at each point that you want to Measure/Digitize.
2 – Position the special coded targets representing the origin and one of the axes (if needed).
3 – Take a series of photos of the scene and copy all these photos into an empty folder.
4 – Run the software, then the 3D reconstruction command and load a photo from the list and you’re done. Everything is automatic, after calculations (the time depends on the number of images but just a couple of minutes is sufficient), Pixdim creates the 3D points.
5 – Design your part…
