Rhinoceros v7: New features and enhancements available today:


  • Subdivision Surfaces. Accurate, organic modelling just got easier. Subdivision surface objects (SubD) open up many new workflows:
    • Push and pull to explore complex, free-form shapes in real-time.
    • SubD objects are highly accurate and can be converted directly to manufacturable solids.
    • Convert scan or mesh data into SubD objects, then optionally to NURBS.
  • BlendSrf – New Refine checkbox avoids creating a simpler blend surface
  • Revolve – Ends of the revolving axis can be attached to objects using object snaps when History is recorded.
  • MatchSrf – History locking allows editing control points of matched surfaces.
  • DupBorder: Added History support
  • FilletSrf now has a G2 option.


  • Curve Surface Intersections – improves results for trims, splits, and booleans. Also in our testing results can be 4x faster in some cases.
  • Named Selections 658
  • Changed the spacing of control points in BlendEdge based on customer feedback.
  • Boolean Operations – Have been improved to union, subtract or intersect coplanar surfaces.

Mesh Tools

Quad Remesh lets you create a quad mesh from mesh and NURBS geometry.

Quad meshes can be:

  • Converted to SubD objects (which can be converted to NURBS)
  • Used in rendering and animation products
  • Used for CFD and FEA analysis
  • For finding principle curvature of forms


  • EdgeContinuity Uses line hairs to visualise distance, tangency, and curvature between an edge pair.
